Essentials
Your “Pilates Bound At Home” kit begins with a solid Pilates mat.
Let’s get started with the basics.
Think of your mat as an apparatus, and you deserve a good one! You want a Pilates mat that’s large, dense, and has a slicker finish than a yoga mat. This will be more comfortable for spinal rolling exercises, as well as times when you’re on your stomach. A thickness of 10mm is ideal. In addition, add a yoga mat for some stickiness so you’re not traveling across the floor in rolling like a ball, open leg rocker, or other exercises! Though this could be fun!
10mm Pilates mat
High-density foam mat to absorb impact, and provide your body alignment and support for an awesome workout.
Yoga mat
Good to have on a floor placed under your Pilates mat, so you don’t travel while rocking-n-rolling through Pilates exercises.
Do you want to know the Pilates mat I’m using? It’s the Balanced Body Contrology folding mat. FYI – the link provided is an affiliate link from my Pilates teacher/mentor that gives you a 5% discount. This Pilates mat is an investment, you’ll see how it’s an apparatus, and it’s worth it IMO! It has changed my practice.
